An 8-metre giant telescope in the Cerro Paranal Observatory, Atacama Desert, Chile. At 2,635 meters (8,645 ft) from sea level, Paranal is home to the European Southern Observatory (ESO) Very Large Telescope (VLT), is the Very Large Telescope (VLT). It is composed of four 8-metre telescopes. In the sky of this telephoto single-exposure image is the Large Magellanic Cloud. The dwarf satellite galaxy is one of the Milky Way's satellites about 160,000 light-years away. The prominent brighter patch just right of the galaxy center is 30 Doradus or the Tarantula Nebula; a magnificent star-forming region about 1,000 light-years. Tracked by Vixen Polarie.
